Steve, did you use solid square stock for the center of your axle or hollow square tubing?

I used square tube. Wall thickness was 1/4" I think, I will have to check on that.
I haven't seen any cannon carriage builders use solid bar and tapered toward the center as it was.
I did weld on a 1/2" dia. rod in the center to act as the little tang on the original.
I can send you a blueprint that I drew if you want.

Great. Would it be convenient to email a copy of the blueprint to me, or to post the diagram here?

Are you sure you don't want to move to Gettysburg so we could work on this together? Between the parts that your group has made/acquired and the parts I have, we could probably have a functioning Traveling Forge in a couple of weeks.
